30 Jan 09 | PAT Kerin, who loves umpiring, will officiate in his 200th match on Sunday when he steps out onto Fisher Park with Chris Cassin in Cootamundra’s Fife Shield match against Wagga East.
Pat gained his New South Wales Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association Accreditation in 2003.
Since retiring from the Railway in 2004, Pat has been able to stand in many mid week fixtures; this has certainly boosted his number of matches.

Of the numerous visitors in town last weekend, many were here to help celebrate the birthday of well-known Cootamundra citizen Mrs Ethel Meale.
Mrs Meale originally came from Sydney to Cootamundra at the age of 20, to a job with the Shell Company, and from then on Cootamundra was “home” as she met and married the late William Thomas Meale.
30 Jan 09 | A Cootamundra woman had the shock of her life on Wednesday afternoon, when she saw a tail, which in her mind could not have been anything other than a snake dissapear into the dash of her car. The distraught woman drove her vehicle to the Cootamundra Fire Station where crew members along with local snake handler Ian Hoy and local auto electrician Jarred Craw dismantled the vehicle in an attempt to locate the snake and remove it from the vehicle.

IN recognition of their dedicated service to the Cootamundra community husband and wife Leigh and Isabel Scott have been awarded the joint honour of Cootamundra Citizens of the Year.
This was only the second year that a couple has received the honour, with John and Jean Deitch receiving the honour in 2000.

Thriving fish species in the dam have been the talk of many local fishing enthusiasts in past years, however, due to the recent dry and hot weather conditions a substantial amount of water has evaporated from the dam causing the fish to die.
