Cruz has been named the winner of Harvey Norman’s ‘Australia’s Best Baby and Toddler Moment’ competition, beating some 30,000 other entrants to take the title.
Cruz’s mother Ami could not be more thrilled with the win and was amazed when she learned of the scope of the prize – a $10,000 education fund, a set of Women’s Weekly children’s cookbooks and an array of goodies from Harvey Norman.
A talented amateur photographer who regularly snaps shots of her baby boy, Ami often has her photos printed using the Harvey Norman online store. It was while uploading photos to be printed a pop-up advertisement appeared alerting her to the competition.
She immediately selected a photo from those she had on screen, which happened to be from Cruz’s first birthday, and followed the instructions to add a caption with the words “First taste of cake” before entering the comp.
She then forgot all about it until she came home one afternoon to discover an answering service message telling her Cruz was a winner.
“I take photos all the time, I’m learning how to use the camera and I love taking photos of Cruz,” Ami said.
Before her son was born Ami purchased an SLR camera and she has been practicing her photography ever since.
Soon she will have a new bundle of joy to photograph with Ami and husband Tyson expecting their second baby in eight weeks time.
Ami said knowing the sum of money is available when they need it for Cruz’s education, when he is still so young, is wonderful.
