All set for a spectacular show

08 Feb, 2012 07:21 AM
LOCAL residents will have the chance to see some of the best-known performers from the 50s, 60s and 70s in action when Mark Andrew makes his way to Cootamundra and single-handedly takes on the personas of Dean Martin, Buddy Holly, Tom Jones, John Lennon, Austin Powers and Elvis Presley.

He will be joined by two showgirls.

The ‘Legends Showcase’ will take place on March 17 and will act as a fundraiser for the Cootamundra Hospital ultrasound machine as well as the Arts Centre.

Fundraising for the ultrasound machine, which would be a vital addition to Cootamundra Hospital, hit its straps last year when a major fundraiser was hosted at ‘Clifton’ last year.

The Legends Showcase is being organised by former Cootamundra resident Tracy Lord, the daughter of current Cootamundra locals Richard and Verlie Lord.

Tracy said she gets home to Cootamundra as often as possible and is keen to do her bit to assist both the hospital and the Arts Centre.

Cootamundra has been lucky to secure Mark in town, with the performer widely considered one of the best Elvis impersonators in the country.

Mark is a friend of Tracy’s, hence his willingness to visit the town and partake in the show. He is a regular performer at Crown Casino with his many acts.

Tracy said attendees to the show can expect a fun-filled night with plenty of music everyone will know.

People are encouraged to book early as if the designated show night – Saturday, March 17 – sells out a second night will be offered.

The concert will be held in the Town Hall with doors to open from 7pm.

Tickets are $40 including antipasto platters and dips and will be available from Monday from Kevin Deep Clothing and Footwear.

Tickets can be purchased individually or as a table of 14.

People will be able to purchase drinks from the bar.
