A FUN PARTY

Oh, what a fun party took place at the Country Club last Saturday night to mark the 50th birthday of popular man Greg Bradley. Hosted by his wife Sue together with their sons Tom and Joe such a happy evening was had by all in attendance.

The ‘guest of honour’ Greg is here pictured with good friend (and former Cootamundra gentleman) Jeff Spyer who delivered a ‘smashing’ speech. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREG.

KATE’S BIRTHDAY

Delighted to be making mention of ‘birthday girl’ Kate Brien who on Wednesday celebrated her 18th birthday. Kate is the daughter of Steve and Annette Brien of “Woodlands” and tonight they will gather together with Kate’s sister Jess and others to mark this special birthday with dinner at the Central Hotel.

A busy girl is our Kate what with sitting her HSC this year, recently completed at stint of work experience at Big W, Young, and helping out at Woodlands during the current busy foaling season. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE.

LOUTH PICNICS

For all those heading out west for the Annual Louth Picnic Races which take place tomorrow DO have a BRILLIANT time. Rumor has it a number of locals have left for a BIG weekend out by the Darling including Andrew Holihan and friends who will be ‘celebrating’ his upcoming wedding to Nicole Craig with a ‘bucks weekend’ away!! HAVE FUN.

INTERNATIONAL NIGHT

The CWA Evening Branch will be holding its International Night on Tuesday August 12. The usual business meeting will commence at 7pm and the International segment at 7.30pm.

International Officer Lois James has arrangements well in hand for an interesting night.

All interested people are most welcome to attend and learn about Mexico.

ALSO, the ladies will be conducting their Annual Street Stall on Friday, September 12.

A PROUD NIGHT

The parents of ‘dance great’ Liam Berg have returned home after having attended the Sydney Opera House where Liam was performing at the McDonald’s Scholarship Ballet Concert. Sue and Glen together with Liam’s aunt Carol Sims traveled to Sydney to be at the opera House last weekend and aunt Carol sums the evening up as a WONDERFUL experience, adding that some of the items were sensational!

Liam is currently studying full time at a ballet school in Surry Hills. Also performing at the Opera House last Sunday evening was another Cootamundra girl Sarah Elliott, who is also attending the ballet school full time. GOOD LUCK LIAM AND SARAH.

MONTHLY MARKETS

The Cootamundra Monthly Markets will once again take place this Sunday at Fisher Park. Set to commence at 9am there will be usual stalls plus a barbecue, tea coffee and drinks.

The markets are in the capable hands of the Cootamundra Retirement Village Auxiliary who do a sterling job raising funds for the Village.

DOING THE CLIMB!

What a first-class time these men had when they ventured to Sydney last week to do the bridge climb. Dean Thompson is here pictured with his dad Alan Thompson when they reached the peak!

The climb was a gift to Alan from his family – a 70th birthday gift as Alan celebrated this milestone birthday on July 13. BELATED GREETINGS ALAN.

‘TOP END’ HAPPENINGS

The ‘top end’ end of Wallendoon Street was alive with action last Saturday night. Art FX had the opening of Rosanna Cox’s Exhibition “Fragments of the Earth” with many people enjoying wine and savouries whilst viewing the colourful paintings.

Next door at the White Ibis, Apex were holding their change-over dinner, Matt Van Kerk Oerle taking over the reins of President from Peter Lott. The happy group then walked over the road to the Arts Centre which was buzzing with a very lively and fun musical night starring “Wizard and Oz”- Andrew Farrell and David McMillan.
