ITALIAN HOLIDAY

Recently a very interesting holiday was enjoyed by Audrey Ward and her daughter Laurelle (Canberra) when they travelled to Italy. Joining up with a Trafalgar tour they visited Rome, touring the Vatican City, the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain then continued on to spend three days in Florence visiting Pisa and Bologna.

The highlight of the trip was the five night stay in Venice - an amazing place and they enjoyed a ride in a gondola PLUS plenty of other boat rides and lots of walking! The Murano Glass factory and showroom was fascinating and it was a great pleasure visiting some of the myriad of jewellery shops to buy some of the beautiful items on offer. The Ladies sum it up ‘a sensational trip’!

Audrey and daughter Laurelle Tunks are here pictured near the Rialto Bridge in Venice. WELCOME HOME.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE

What a surprise popular gentleman Steve Cross, from Mark Kingwill Electrical, received when he arrived at the Ex-Services Club last Saturday night. There to greet him at his EARLY 30th birthday party were close on 70 guests ‘hidden’ up in the Auditorium to celebrate his milestone birthday.

His wife Julisia and children Mason and Kiera hosted the evening where old friends of Steve, who had returned to Coota for the celebration, certainly added to the brilliance of the night!!

Steve’s birthday isn’t until December but the decision was made to go EARLY with the party.

PETER’S PROGRESS

Just to let the friends of former Cootamundra gentleman Peter Baker know that he has returned to his home in Mollymook after yet another trip to Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. Peter had major surgery earlier this year for a brain tumour and the year so far has been quite ‘harrowing’ with after-treatment. But he is now enjoying the ‘peace and quiet’ of his Mollymook home and would just love to hear from his Cootamundra friends and fellow Rotarians.

Many locals will remember Peter when he was at the helm of the Cootamundra Farm Centre. We spoke with him late last week and he and his

charming wife Liz were in good spirits.

RIDEATHON

At Come Alive Fitness Centre this Saturday a 12 hour Indoor Cycling Rideathon will take place. Known as “Ride for Light” this rideathon is a charity event to raise awareness of depression, suicide and mental health.

Australia’s leading “RPM” instructor Meg Chalker will be riding all twelve classes - can any of us match THAT! There are still some time slots to be filled, so pop into the gym and register your interest. Spectators are also encouraged, to cheer the riders on!!

THE GOOD OLD DAYS

The audience was transported to England in the 1980’s with the play readings held in the Arts Centre last week.

Two monologues from the “Talking Heads” series by top British playwright Alan Bennett were presented by Bob Guy and Eleanor Bondaruk. Bob’s “A Chip in the Sugar” took us through the very real situation of an unmarried son living with his Mum as they both grow older. Eleanor’s “Miss Fozzard Finds her Feet” traced the “footsteps” of Miss Fozzard’s VERY unusual relationship with her chiropodist!

Both monologues were presented brilliantly; the audience was captivated by the different situations being revealed onstage, and there was plenty of humour, wit & pathos. CONGRATULATIONS to Bob & Eleanor and thankyou for bringing us entertainment of this calibre.

What TALENT we have here in Cootamundra, what with the CADAS Kids, all our singing and acting talent and our extraordinary dancers who have gone on to

GREATNESS (will fill you in on the continuing success of ‘dance great’ Tom Bradley in a later edition.)
