TO WED TOMORROW

The wedding of Josh McKenzie and Leah Ronczka will take place tomorrow. They will wed in a late afternoon ceremony at the Uniting Church, Cooper Street, with the reception following at “Braeside”, Cootamundra.

Josh is the son of Kerry and Heather McKenzie and Leah is from Wollongong.

Playing a part in the bridal party will be Josh’s lifelong friend Andrew Clune, who has returned from his home in England (and Andrew is also enjoying time with his mum Denise Clune).

The happy couple will make their home in Yeppoon, Qld.

WARMEST WISHES JOSH & LEAH.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS

Celebrating her birthday tomorrow November 21 is Mrs Leonie Hartshorn of the Cootamundra Nursing Home. Do have a special day Leonie.

SAD PASSING

We have this week heard of the passing of former Cootamundra resident Mr John Reid. John will be remembered as principal of E A Southee School after he replaced Neville Falls.

John passed away in Brisbane on September 14, and surviving him is his charming wife Pam Reid and their sons David, John and Geoffrey.

Pam’s Brisbane address is - 1 Turnbull Crescent, Carindale. 4152 Qld.

ALSO, it has come to our notice the untimely passing of Mrs Joy Phillips. Joy will be remembered as a member of the Sharman family and she was ‘many years ago’ at the helm of La Rene Hair Salon here in town.

Joy passed away in Canberra on October 29 and left to mourn her passing are her children Debbie and Brian, two grandchildren and her sisters Joan Strachan, Dot Boxsell and Lola Martin. Her brother Les Sharman (who was a baker here in town) predeceased her as has her sister Kath Sheather, formerly of Stockinbingal.

CALLING

DARWIN HOME

There is no doubt that former Cootamundra girl Jada Montgomery is ‘going places’ in her chosen career in the Australian Navy!

She has been based at HMAS Watson as a navigator and for this she has received a commendation for her work in that area.

She has represented the Navy in playing netball for the Australian Defence Force netball team.

AND now she is planning a move to Darwin at the end of December where she will be working on the Patrol Boats that patrol the oceans off Darwin.

Her partner will also be accompanying her, to work in the area of Physical Education. He will be teaching the Australian troops up there in Darwin.

Jada is currently enjoying a short stay here in Coota with her family Denise and Kevin Montgomery, and attended the Cootamundra High School Year 12 Graduation Dinner on Wednesday night, there to support her sister Keden who has just completed her HSC.

GOOD LUCK JADA.

ORANGE CONFERENCE

Cootamundra’s local Can Assist group was well represented at the CAN ASSIST State Conference held at Orange on October 31.

This conference was very informative, with interesting speakers, and Joyce Steiger was honoured with an Award for her work for Can Assist.
