GEORGIA’S PROGRESS
Just the cutest little girl Georgia James, currently a patient in Children’s Hospital, Randwick, LOVED getting a visit from her cousin Molly Bowditch. Georgia has leukemia and is receiving treatment and during the long days in hospital she delights in going up to the Starlight Room where entertainment is provided. Captain Starlight is here pictured with the girls.
Georgia’s parents Ray and Vanessa James and their families would like to say thank you to everyone for their support during this time.
BROTHER NORM’S PASSING
It is with sadness that I report on the passing of Brother Norman Lawrence Lipman who passed away in Sydney on Friday last January 22, aged 89 years.
Many will remember Br Norm when he spent time in Cootamundra. His love of Cootamundra was “legendary’. As a youngster growing up he lived here in town with his family, his father the late Norman Lipman was an architect.
Br Norm attended the De La Salle Brothers School (and was he proud of that), returning each year for the De La Salle Reunion.
The Lipman family made a move to Young where Br Norm finished his education at the Christian Brothers School. He later went on to join the Christian Brothers Order - In his retirement he lived at Waverley College, Sydney. Br Norm was a member of the order for 70 years.
His ‘farewell’ took place on Wednesday last in Sydney.
KELLY’S WIN
We at the Herald office were thrilled to hear the news of Kelly Manwaring’s win.
Kelly whose love is photography (and she sometimes ‘fills in’ to do the Herald photography of weekends) recently won a top award at the Young Camera Club.
The image which won her first prize was a vintage image of an old truck sitting by a group of silos. CONGRATULATIONS KELLY - keep up the good work!
MILESTONE BIRTHDAY
Celebrations were in order for the 70th birthday of Bob King at the Services Club on Sunday, January 24.
Family and friends in attendance partied on with Bob to make it a great evening out.
