WEST AUSTRALIAN HOLIDAY
Local couple Adam and Michelle Fuller and their sons Aaron and Joshua have returned home after having had an outstanding holiday in Western Australia.
Over there they were the guests of close friends Jeff Bristow and Di Williams and
during the first week enjoyed the company of Di’s daughter Hannah who was also there on holidays.
Di certainly showed them the highlights of the area, Eighty Mile Beach being one of the breath taking sights, Michelle describes it as an oasis in the outback, a perfect white beach and crystal clear ocean.
They then spent a night a Karijini National Park and explored the beautiful gorges,
waterfalls and pools.
A trip to Tom Price for a speedway meet was next on the agenda where they met up with two former Cootamundra men Jeff Dogget and Jeff Davies who, by the way, were competing!
The family then travelled to ‘fascinating’ Broome for two days, having fun riding camels at sunset along Cable Beach and took in a quick trip to Roebuck Bay where they were lucky enough to watch the full moon
rising to create the Staircase to the Moon! One is very lucky to be in Broome for this not so often event.
The remainder of the Fuller family stay was spent looking around the Port Hedland area and having a brilliant time at the Port Hedland Races (lots of laughs and a great time was had by all).
Here pictured with the Fuller family are Jeff and Di who no doubt have a ‘highly interesting’ time living there in Western Australia and of course delight in hosting Coota friends.

PARTY TIME FOR AARON
On Saturday last a party to mark the 21st birthday of popular lad Aaron Kemp was held at the Central Hotel. There were 50 guests in attendance with the evening hosted by Aaron’s parents Terry and Debbie Kemp of Dirnaseer.
BIRTHDAY GREETINGS
Birthdays are the ‘happening thing’ at the moment and what fun to be wishing the following locals a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY -
Two beautiful little girls Bella and Charli Leggett had a combined birthday party last weekend with family and friends in attendance. The party was hosted by their parents Robert and Jo Leggett at their Cowcumbla Street home. It was Bella’s fifth birthday and Charli’s third birthday.
Dylan Berkrey, the son of Di Berkrey, celebrated his 18th birthday also last weekend and marked this special occasion with family and friends. Dylan is currently in year 12 at the Cootamundra High School and we say GOOD LUCK in the upcoming HSC exams.
Hey, caught you Simon! The happiest chap Simon Baldock celebrated his birthday on Saturday last - hope it was heaps of fun Simon.
Warmest birthday greetings to Melissa Finnigan, a popular member of staff at Target, who was the birthday girl on Monday last, August 23. A special dinner out at the Country Club was how Melissa marked the day.
AND, to Mrs Hazel Basham of the Cootamundra Retirement Village, who yesterday celebrated her 92nd birthday, hope you had a TOP day with all your family calling on you to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Her son Doug will this Friday, August 27, be ‘the birthday boy’ and there will surely be an ale or two on his ‘agenda’ to mark the day.
Caught up with Sally Lawler yesterday as she was doing her volunteer day at the Vinnies Shop, just to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Believe friends were taking her to lunch to celebrate.
LONDON BOUND
Cootamundra lady Fay George is this week heading for London and a spot of babysitting. Her son Brad, wife Catherine and their children Baillie and Sam have lived in the UK for some time and Catherine is shortly flying out of Heathrow bound for Perth, to be present at her parents 50th wedding anniversary.
Since 2007 Brad (who was educated at EA Southee School and the Cootamundra High School) has been the mining and metals analyst for and partner in the investment arm of Matrix Corporation Stockbrokers and Financial Services in London. But come mid September will be taking up a position as chief operation executive of Forte Energy Corporation.
The managing director of Forte Energy has welcomed the appointment of Brad with his 20 years experience as a global geoscientist. Over the past 20 years he has worked in 20 countries, this accounting for his invaluable knowledge.
It is three years since Fay’s last visit to London, then she enjoyed six weeks both in London and Ireland, but Brad made a visit to Coota last October together with his children and met up with Baillie and Sam’s cousins from Albury, Callum, Ryley and Bayden, the children of Phillip and Lynelle George.
UK VISITORS
What a splendid time Maggie O’Malley has had enjoying the company of her daughter Jane and son in law Russell Purchase. Jane and Russell live at Southampton, Jane is a schoolteacher currently on six weeks summer holiday from school in the UK and coming to the end of a month’s holiday here in Australia.
A special part of their stay was spent at Hillston visiting Jane’s sister Emma, her husband Ben Laird and their children Sophie and Max. Whilst there Emma and Ben held the christening of Sophie and Max, much celebrating accompanying this happy event.
Of course also present at the christening was proud Aunt Sarah Whitteron of Melbourne.
What a happy family time was had by all.
