Around Cootamundra

CANADIAN HOLIDAY

Welcome home to Barry and Judy Cant who have returned from a breathtaking trip to Canada and Alaska.

In all they were away for five weeks and highlights of their trip were the two weeks spent with friends in Montreal, time in Vancouver and Whistler. The train trip through the Rockies was certainly a highlight for Barry and Judy as was their trip to Niagara Falls.

A week was spent on a ship cruising to Alaska and in summing up they wish to THANK Nancy and staff from Cootamundra’s Harvey World Travel for an incident free trip. Barry said they were jumping on planes/trains/buses and ships throughout the trip and there was ‘not a hiccup’.

WELCOME HOME.

BOUND FOR ARMIDALE

We bid farewell to a beautiful family Jim and Katie Meckiff plus daughters Polly, Mabel and Violet as they make preparations for their move to Armidale.

Jim has accepted a challenging position in the New England area as the sheep and wool officer for the Department of Industry and Investment, up there in the fine merino wool country.

Katie’s comment was they will certainly be in the area of cold winters (perhaps will not have to travel far to see snow!) BUT lovely, lovely Coffs Harbour plus beaches are only a two hour drive away. They also said they will miss everything about Coota BUT it will always be home.

On a personal note I always feel sad when young families leave us BUT we wish Jim, Katie and the girls a SPLENDID life in Armidale.

Feel sure that Katie’s dad and mum Chris and Anne Last will be regular visitors.

50 YEARS SERVICE

The journalists here at the Herald are eager to catch up with genial gentleman George Sullivan who retired last week after 50 years of service in the meat industry.

GOOD LUCK George in all your future endeavours which I know will surely include more interesting travels abroad with wife Rosie.

AND, in finishing can’t let the opportunity go by to wish lovely lady Gemma Pratt from The White Ibis the HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY. Sunday is the day but Gemma’s husband Tony and sons Hugh and Xavier will host an evening tomorrow night to mark Gemma’s milestone birthday.

Believe music/song and much laughter/merriment will be the order of the night!!

HAVE FUN GEMMA.

IGA DOINGS

Called on the staff at Cootamundra Supa IGA and they were eager to tell the happy news stories taking place there yesterday.

A morning tea party was happening to acknowledge Kath Lonergan’s 10 years of loyal service to IGA (having worked for four years with the late Robert Sissian and the past six years with Tony and Jenni Flinn) AND Jo Pavitt and Sue Annetts were celebrating their birthdays. WELL DONE girls.

Kath commented that she has made many friends during the 10 years and Tony Flinn was full of praise for Kath’s valuable years of service and the fact that she has trained many juniors when they joined the staff at IGA.
