DID YOU KNOW?
If there is one thing that gives me great delight it is writing about local youngsters who have ‘moved on’ with great success. We have been informed this week of two such people and look forward to telling their story, AND did you know that the guest speaker at the Education Fund dinner held recently Dr Philip Lowe Assistant Governor (economics) Reserve Bank of Australia is the son of former Cootamundra couple John and Joan Lowe, who resided in Cutler Avenue together with their family. Philip and his siblings attended the Sacred Heart School.
Of course John and Joan travelled over from their home in Wagga to enjoy the evening out with former Cootamundra friends and catch up with Philip.
I was away at the time of Philip’s visit to Cootamundra, ENJOYING a holiday with friends on the far North Coast THEN returning home to DELIGHT in having all our family here at home, visiting from England, Hong Kong, Sydney and Young!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Friends wish to send BIRTHDAY GREETINGS to the nicest lady Mrs Margaret Smith on the occasion of her birthday which was yesterday.
Margaret now resides in Bowral but travelled to Sydney on the
weekend to be ‘guest of honour’ at a family party hosted by her children Libby, Susan, Jane and Jim.
I have no doubt that new grandson Austin Smith would have been in attendance.
BABY SHOWER
Debbie Longford, from Mark Kingwill Electrical, has returned home after having had a very special time in Sydney attending a Baby Shower for her daughter Illecia. Friends Julie Hotston and Mandy Walton accompanied her to Sydney for the party and also at the Baby Shower was daughter Skye, who lives in Canberra, BUT had been in Sydney for a short time involved with the recently held Sydney Fashion Week, where she was fortunate enough to be hairdresser to top Australian and
overseas models. Skye is now enjoying a well earned holiday in Phuket, Thailand.
MONDAY LUNCHEON
The monthly Luncheon of the War Widows and Ex-Servicewomen will take place on Monday, September 6. The bistro of the Ex-Services Club will be the venue as usual and noon the time for all the ladies to gather for 12.30pm lunch.
BACK ON DECK
So nice to catch up with popular girl Amy Axsentieff at Pazzaz Hair Studio, certainly since I last called there she has had a BUSY time. What with orthopaedic surgery on her leg and announcing her engagement to Johnny English life for Amy has been FULL.
She is back at Pazzaz part time and recently headed for Canberra together with Emma and Emily to attend a Hair Conference where they picked up on the latest and greatest in hair colour styling.
A BIG WEEKEND
A big weekend is looming for popular chef at the Ex-Services Club. Not only is Gunther
celebrating his birthday but Father’s Day also.
His wife Maria writes “to my wonderful
husband HAPPY BIRTHDAY Gunther, father of seven, father-in-law of six, SUPER opa of eight - have a great Fathers Day. AND GO THE RAIDERS!”
NEW MANAGEMENT
I was pleased to call into Envy Hair and Body yesterday to meet new owner Moira Ryan who has moved here together with her husband Dennis from the Central Coast. Dennis is a former local boy, the son of the late Paddy Ryan and Mrs Verna Ryan.
READY TO PERFORM
It was certainly a busy day on Saturday last at the Cootamundra Arts Centre with the Chris Edwards School of Dance rehearsals
taking place there as well as in the studio.
