the seventh annual Cootamundra Ulysses Motorcycle Club Toy Run, where bikers hop in the saddle all for a good cause – plenty of presents at Christmas for those less fortunate.

Members of the Ulysses Club have already begun preparing for the Toy Run, which is held in conjunction with the Salvation Army.

In previous years the Ulysses Toy run has attracted up to 100 riders, with hundreds of local families benefiting as a result.

This year local Ulysses members are hoping to attract even more riders to support the worthy cause.

With the effects of the drought and economic downturn still being felt among many local families, Ulysses members are hopeful more gifts will be given for the families suffering the most.

This year’s short ride will be held tomorrow, meeting at the Family Hotel at 10.30am for an 11am start.

The ride will convoy down Hovell Street, turning into Temora Road, then into Parker Street for a lap of the main, before turning onto Wallendoon Street.

The ride will conclude at Albert Park.

At Albert Park toys are given to the Cootamundra branch of Salvation Army and local residents can enjoy a sausage sizzle.

In previous years, the annual Ulysses Toy Run has attracted the lesser powered cycles including posties, electric scooters and gophers right up to high powered bikes.

All motorised wheels are invited to be part of the ride by simply turning up on the day, riders are also encouraged to decorate their bikes with either toys or Christmas decorations.

It is not only bikers given the opportunity to participate in this worthwhile event, local residents can also partake by donating toys for children up to the age of 16 for either girls or boys.

Gifts for teenage children are especially called for this year.

Toys can be taken down to Albert Park tomorrow or placed in the drop off boxes at Cootamundra IGA, Toyworld and Manwaring Sand and Gravel in Hovell Street.

Monetary donations and wrapping paper are also gratefully received each gift wrapped by Salvation Army volunteers before being delivered to local families.

Please do not wrap your gift as it has to me sighted by the Salvation Army before being distributed. If you wish feel free to provide wrapping paper or a gift bag for the gift.
