FORMER Cootamundra local Tim Guthrie began the New Year on a high after publishing his first book entitled ‘Makin’ Money is Child’s Play’ Tim, who now resides in Canberra, is the son of Des and Mary Guthrie who still reside in Cootamundra.
He was schooled at the Sacred Heart Central School and the Cootamundra High School.
Makin’ Money is Child’s Play is a young
person’s guide to taking their first financial
steps.
The soft cover 100 paged book guides people towards the responsible and effective management of any income or earnings they will ever receive, whether it comes from their weekly allowance or their first job.
The book will also help parents nurture a positive and practical approach to financial matters within their children.
Tim is an educator, motivator, investor and personal trainer.
He is also the director of Sub20 Pty Ltd, a company devoted to the motivation and inspiration of young people to reach their full potential and he
is also the author of the ‘Power Performance’ blog.
When Tim was asked what motivated him to write a book, his reply was that he wanted to inspire young people to live amazing lives they can be proud of.
“The financial world will play an important part in every young person’s life and I wanted to play my role in making sure their future is not marred by the uncertainty and anxiety many adults face,” Tim said.
“Writing is something I really enjoy so the content and the process was a perfect match.”
Tim said he sees many adults fumble around with financial management, lacking focus and direction and I think this can be avoided I the skills required for effective finance management are learned during childhood, making them a natural part of a person’s life.
Tim is already working on his next writing project which is a motivational piece aimed, again, at youngsters and their caretakers.
It will dig deep into themes such as courage, goal setting, developing principles, passion discovery, integrity and leadership.
“I really want to encourage young people
to be aware of their decision making. I want them to ask is what I am doing now taking me closer to my dream life or is it holding me back,” Tim
said.
