FOUR members of the Cootamundra Fire Brigade have been presented commemorative pins and letters of appreciation in recognition for their efforts during the Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria.
Brigade Captain Les Carr, Deputy Captain Chris Carr and crew members Jennifer Cameron and Joe Flaws were presented with the pins at a special presentation held at the station on Wednesday by Duty Commander Graham Jarrett of the Region South Two Zone, based in Goulburn which incorporates Cootamundra.
The pins recognise all personnel who played a role in responding to the fire, including firefighters, wildlife rescuers and volunteers who prepared food, organised donations and worked at relief centres.
Brigade Captain Les Carr said it was an honour to receive the pins in recognition for their efforts and the dangers many of the fire fighters throughout the state faced.
“Myself along with the three other crew members did what we had to do to help the Victorians affected by the bushfires,” Mr Carr said.
Within Commander Jarrett’s Zone approximately 100 members of the NSW Fire Brigade will be presented the pins and letter of appreciation personally signed by Premier of Victoria John Brumby.
