COOTAMUNDRA’S largest employer GM Scott will be the focus of a Commonwealth Bank internal webcast after the meatworks was chosen by the banking giant as a business which has excelled in its field.
Commonwealth Bank executive general manager regional and agribusiness banking Brendan White spent Tuesday at GM Scott along with a film crew to create the webcast.
Mr White said each month the bank creates a webcast which is available to all Commonwealth Bank staff members, of which there are more than 44,000 globally.
“We showcase our valued clients,” Mr White said.
“We’re proud of our relationship with Barry (managing director Barry Noble) and GM Scott and wanted to highlight that with our people.”
GM Scott has been working with the Commonwealth Bank for more than 15 years and Mr White said the successful manner in which the abattoir has grown from four employees to well over 200, particularly when some regional businesses have struggled to grow, is a fantastic effort and certainly worthy of broadcast across the Commonwealth Bank network.
In addition to the growth of GM Scott, Mr White said he was particularly impressed by the way the meatworks embraced new technology, such as robotics, and continued to strive to stay at the forefront of the meat processing game.
“Innovation and use of technology to improve productivity is a key factor in the success here,” Mr White said.
The webcast will showcase the activity at GM Scott from the sheep in the yards, to the boning room to the new chiller system.
“We tried to look at the whole process,” Mr White said.
GM Scott managing director Barry Noble said he was thrilled when the Commonwealth Bank approached him about the meatworks being in the focus of a webcast.
He said it was a great boost to all staff at GM Scott, from those on the floor to those in senior management, to see the Commonwealth Bank film crew wondering through the plant.
“I am very pleased to have our work recognised,” Mr Noble said.
