Keeping Coota clean

05 Mar, 2010 07:14 AM
SIMPLE actions can make a huge difference to our

environment – like cleaning up your local area.

Cootamundra residents, sporting groups, businesses, local organisations and charities and local schools are again being encouraged to grab their gloves and bags and keep Cootamundra beautiful as part of the national Clean Up Australia Day this Sunday.

For the last 10 years at least, Cootamundra Shire Council has

supported Clean Up Australia Day.

Residents can register and collect their free gloves, rubbish

bags and free tip pass at the Cootamundra Shire Council up until 5pm today or from 10am Sunday at the Visitor Information Centre.

Cootamundra Shire Council Public Relations Officer, Linda Wiles said Council is pleased with the number of people and groups that have already registered.

Areas that will be targeted on Sunday include the Muttama Creek, along Yass Road, near Florence Gardens, along Crown Street, Adams Street and Temora Road, Betts Street, Cowcumbula Street and in and around the central business district.

Local schools will be doing their bit today picking up rubbish throughout their playgrounds and focussing on local parks.
