MEMBERS of the Australian Legion of Ex-Servicemen and Women Cootamundra Sub Branch are looking forward to formally using their newly purchased branch flag at this year’s Anzac Day march.
It was brought to the attention of the sub branch president Warwick Adams that the former legion banner was ageing and in need of replacing.
Mr Adams said during formal marches and events members also found the old banner hard to hold onto and it was suggested by the legion’s members to purchase a flag rather than a banner.
With the Australian Legion being a non government organisation, they rely on
donations.
Donations were sought by the head office of the Legion of Ex-Servicemen and Women, Cootamundra Shire Council, Cootamundra Ex-Services and Citizens Memorial Club, the Returned Service’s League Cootamundra Sub Branch and the Cootamundra Wattle Country Music to purchase the $500 flag.
Mr Adams would also like to thank Coota Signs for their assistance in redrawing the branches logo, so it could be blown up clearly to be printed on the flag.
The flag was printed by Flags Fantastic.
“A massive thanks needs to go to the organisations and businesses that gave monetary donations to make it feasible to purchase a new flag for the branch,” Mr Adams said.
