LAST weekend’s annual Michael Livingstone Memorial Run has been deemed a great success by organisers and family members of the late Michael Livingstone.
The memorial run, saw around 55 vintage cars and 20 modern cars take part in a trip to Jugiong.
These included 25 cars from the Cootamundra Antique Motor Club and 30 heritage cars from a number of different car clubs around the region.
Among the oldest historic cars included a 1934 Vauxhall and 1934 Chev.
The late Michael Livingstone will be remembered for his love of Cootamundra, a former businessman and as the founder of the Cootamundra Antique Motor Club.
The memorial run is hosted by the Cootamundra Antique Motor Club and also coincides with the club’s birthday, with this year marking the 32nd birthday of the Antique Motor Club.
Gwen Livingstone, the wife of the late Michael Livingstone and one of the organisers of the memorial run and club birthday celebrations said she was impressed with the turnout on the day.
She said car club members from Canberra, Wollongong, Young and Gundagai joined with local car enthusiasts in the memorial run.
“There was a variety of cars from all eras who all convoyed to Jugiong,” Mrs Livingstone said.
“Jugiong is such a great little peaceful town, the pool facilities are wonderful, the grounds are clean, it is off the highway and is a great distance to travel in a day.”
Mrs Livingstone described the day as ‘enjoyable’ with perfect weather.
“It was such a relaxing day where people could view the cars and enjoy the friendly atmosphere.”
Mrs Livingstone’s two daughters Sharon and Amanda, their partners and six of their seven grandchildren were present on the day.
Mrs Livingstone’s son Patrick, his wife and son were unable to attend.
To celebrate the 32nd birthday of the Cootamundra Antique Motor Club a large cake was enjoyed by all.
Club president Paul Andreatta had the honour of cutting the cake, which was made by club member Robyn Absolon.
Mrs Livingstone said she is hoping that next year’s memorial run and club birthday will be even bigger and better.
She has already been in contact with the P76 Car Club based in Sydney and invited their members to come to Cootamundra next year.
“I am also currently doing some research to get in touch with the Model A’s Car Club and wish to invite them to come to Cootamundra, possibly even hold their A Model Nationals here in town,” Mrs Livingstone said.
Michael Livingstone died in 2006, with the first memorial run in his honour being held in 2007.
