WITH Cootamundra’s hopes of qualifying for another Stribley Shield finals berth reliant on the result of all three final round matches played this weekend, local selectors have been forced to make a number of changes to their side.
The First XI travels to Temora in a match they must simply win and then rely on Tumut to score an upset victory over Wagga and pre-qualified
finalists Yass to defeat Gundagai.
Work commitments will prevent Central Hotel duo Adam Twyford and Joel Pearson from playing, as well as Wallendbeen allrounder David Izzard.
Another trio of players from the last start victory over Wagga are unavailable, with Michael Buttriss having family commitments, John Stephens
having been struck down by injury and exciting teenager David Garness required to turn out for the town’s Fife Shield (under 16) side, ironically in a match against Temora.
Central Hotel 2 allrounder Wayd Millar has been called back into the side, while Stockinbingal’s Isaac Mitchell has also been given an opportunity at representative level.
Reigning Cricketer of the Year Shane Jervis put his hand up to make the trip, giving him a game on the weekend after work commitments will prevent him from turning out in tomorrow’s Sparre Cup semi final against the Country Club.
With the inclusion of Mitchell, the Stockinbingal club will be represented by three players, the others being Nathan Corby and Tim Godman, and the trio should be fresh given their side has a bye at club level tomorrow.
Sunday’s side is Scott Roberts (c) Isaac Mitchell, Tim Godman, Josh Purtell, Nathan Corby, Shane Jervis, Michael Cronin, Wayd Millar, Kyal Berg, Matt Carswell and Aaron Kemp.
Players are asked to meet at Rudds Sportspower at 8.45am sharp.
