THE success of this year’s Twenty/20 competition, coordinated by local cricket enthusiast Chris Dawe, has been such that Chris has indicated it will almost certainly go ahead next year.
A fast-paced, action-packed form of the traditional one-day game, the local T/20 comp, played under lights at Fisher Park each Friday night, has attracted people back to the game of cricket who may not necessarily have been able to give up their entire Saturday each week to spend on the ground.
With a focus on fun and entertainment throughout the comp, the action on the pitch is about to heat up with the semi finals to get underway from this Friday when Custard Arms take on the Cougars.
After a general bye for the Beach Volleyball Carnival next weekend, the second semi between Swing N Miss and Harden the following weekend is sure to be a thriller.
The winner of each of these semis will come up against each other in the final to be played on March 9.
Chris said he hopes to make the competition even bigger and better next year after seeing the potential it has this year.
He indicated he hopes to attract more out of town teams to come and join in playing this newest form of the game right here in Cootamundra.
