RAIDERS TO VISIT

06 Feb, 2012 07:36 AM
LOCAL school students will have the chance to meet their idols, including homegrown hero Glen Buttriss, when a number of Canberra Raiders players make their way to Cootamundra this Thursday for a series of school visits.

As part of the ‘Community Carnival’ the Raiders will visit a number of schools across regional areas in an effort to give youngsters who may not otherwise have the chance the opportunity to get up close and personal to these NRL stars.

League legends Terry Campese and Josh Dugan will be amongst the players to join Glen in Cootamundra.

The visit to town will be short and sweet with players divided between Sacred Heart Central School, EA Southee School, Cootamundra Public School and Cootamundra High School between 9.30am and 10am.

Students will hear the boys speak and will have an opportunity to ask questions. The players will also hand out posters and other merchandise to some lucky students.

A spokesperson for the football club said there will be five Raiders at each school.

The last visit to Cootamundra by the boys was extremely well received with the players always reporting they love to be out on the road meeting their fans in the heart of rugby league territory.

With Canberra being the closest club to Cootamundra, it is naturally the team of choice for many people to follow and Buttriss’s involvement in the first grade side over recent years has certainly added to the local interest in the club.
