This week I was rung by a male saying he was ringing from Telstra in relation to our phone.
He told me as a rewards package we were to get free line rental, free calls etc. When I became suspicious and refused to give him my date of birth he then said if I did not give this information our phone would be cut off immediately.
At this stage I ended the call and immediately rang Telstra, who were particularly helpful and said it was indeed a scam and the caller was trying to access personal information from me to benefit him/ them.
Beware these calls and never give date of birth or other relevant information. He sounded quite genuine until I refused to give him the in information he wanted then he became almost abusive. Beware.
