NATIONALS MP Katrina Hodgkinson has withdrawn her bid for the seat of Goulburn, ending a bitter political showdown with Liberal cabinet colleague Pru Goward.
Ms Hodgkinson, the primary industries minister, confirmed on Friday she would instead nominate for the newly created seat of Cootamundra.
Ms Hodgkinson's old seat of Burrinjuck was abolished at the last redistribution, prompting a decision to challenge Ms Goward for Goulburn.
In a media release on Friday, Ms Hodgkinson said two thirds of her old seat now resided in Goulburn.
"My home town of Yass and even Burrinjuck Dam, after which the seat was named, has now moved into the new seat of Goulburn," she said.
Ms Hodgkinson acknowledged it was a difficult period for her, but said she was looking forward to working with Cootamundra constituents should she be endorsed at preselection.
