Braybrooks Pharmacy’s Judy Braybrooks has put out the challenge to Cootamundra businesses to donate to the Snowy Hydro SouthCare.
Daughter Fiona Braybrooks raised $500 from a Jelly Bean in a jar guessing competition, with the pharmacy matching it to take its donation to $1000.
Mrs Braybrooks urges businesses to think of innovative ways to raise money for this worthy cause, adding you never know when you or your family will need to use the
service.

IMPRESSIVE MEMORABILIA:
Pictured here are Mr Arthur Bragg and his wife Georgina, who were here recently with the group from the Royal Sydney Golf Club, among the many from Sydney who commented on having had a brilliant stay in Cootamundra.
At the dinner held on the Friday night at the Country Club the local Heritage Centre had items from there on display including the plaque here pictured.
Mr Bragg, a cousin of Simon Bragg, was chuffed to see this plaque with one of his ancestor’s names on it.
The plaque was given to the Heritage Centre by the local CWA after they sold off their rooms in Cooper Street. It marks the opening of the Rest Room by Mrs Matt Sawyer during the Presidency of Mrs Arthur Bragg back in 1926.
TRAVELLING NORTH:
Cootamundra couple Mick and Mandy Connors will be leaving town over Easter travelling north on an extended motorhome trip around Australia.
Mandy has been at the helm of the dining room at the Central Hotel for close on 11 years – Mick tells the story they came into town from the Jugiong Hotel for six months and the rest is history.
Mick and Mandy have worked hard at the Central, many patrons will miss Mandy’s many delights served there.
AND what a well earned trip they have planned, head for Sydney collect their motorhome, travel north to Queensland, visit Tasmania then do the extraordinary coastal areas of Western Australia.

What an excellent addition to the CADAS Kids ‘goods and chattels’ a Gazebo.
This was presented to the Kids by Cootamundra Lions Club and will be invaluable for them when they are out and about at fetes and fairs, not having to stand out in 35 degree heat when doing their face painting.

DOUBLE CELEBRATION:
The Donnelly family had a double celebration in Sydney over the weekend of April 5/6 when Cathy received an Excellence in Teaching Certificate from the Geography Teachers Association of NSW on the Friday night.
Then on Saturday Jennifer Donnelly, who is a nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital, celebrated her 40th Birthday with a seafood buffet at the Intercontinental Hotel with family and friends.
I believe a TOP time was had by all in attendance at the Intercontinental.
PROUD PARENTS:
I was SO thrilled to hear that Brodie Chester was named the 2014 The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl, announced in the Amphitheatre at the Sydney Royal on Sunday last.
I made mention in last Friday’s Around Cootamundra page of parents Jo and Michael Chester heading for Sydney as both their daughters were featuring over the weekend at the show.
Well, Karney received her Agricultural Society Council Scholarship on Saturday to assist her with her studies at Charles Sturt University, Wagga, where she is doing a Degree in Ag. Science.
THEN very proud parents Jo and Michael (here pictured) were present to hear their daughter Brodie’s name mentioned as the winner of the 2014 Sydney Royal Showgirl, coming ahead of 15 other girls from around the state!
Brodie who now runs a dairy farm near Bega was representing the Bega Show Society.
Jo commented to me she and Mike were delighted to receive a phone call on Monday night from Margaret Smith who was at the show representing CWA. Marg also congratulated these very proud parents on their daughters success.

JUST delighted to be making mention of the celebration taking place over Easter to mark the 80th birthday of Mrs Ruth Hulm. Ruth, who now resides at the Retirement Village, will have her family and many friends present tomorrow afternoon when she cuts her birthday cake.
And daughter Roslyn told me she has organised an awesome cake, a sponge slab with a football field on top and decorated in the Coota Bulldogs colours of blue and white.

BAKERY FUN :
LITTLE Wattle Preschool children made a much anticipated trip to the Outback Bakery to observe and help the Baker (Josh) make hot cross buns this week. The kids were so excited to participate in this activity and had talked about hot cross buns being a special Easter food. The children were able to journey behind the scenes and watch Josh in action. They also got the opportunity to help Josh roll the dough ready for the oven. THe young bakers were so excited to taste our hot cross buns for afternoon tea.
The children appreciated Josh and his staff taking the time to teach them this Easter tradition.
Little Wattle that went are Annabelle Chau, John Cropper, Jasper Dewick, Sarah Elmes, Izabel Hawkes, Lucas Lowe, Xavier Medway, Ruby Pardy, Ashley Percival, Deklan Smith, Makayla Whicker, Katelyn Woodhead and Xavier Power.
A GLORIOUS SIGHT: The students of Christine Wishart Dance Studios wowed crowds at the opening of the Harden main street upgrade last weekend. In amazing costumes beneath a beautiful blue sky the talented dancers had everyone entertained.
DIANE’S SOUTH PACIFIC CRUISE:
LOCAL lady Diane Wilde has recently returned from the trip of a lifetime where she travelled around the South Pacific islands, together with friends and family from Gundagai and Sydney.
Diane departed from Sydney on March 25, travelling on the luxury cruise liner The Pacific Pearl making stops at Noumea, Lifou, Port Vila, Mystery Island and the Isle of Pines, which Diane said was her most favourite and beautiful locations.
Diane enjoyed experiencing the South Pacific cultures.
This was Diane’s first overseas trip and she is pictured in this GRAND shot with some of the locals of Vanuatu during their stopover in Vila.
