WE know there are some great community-minded young ladies in our community who would do the town proud representing during the town’s Wattle Time month in August.
If someone springs to mind please put pen to paper or send an email nominating her to be the 2014 Miss Wattle.
Simply list a couple of points about what the potential Miss Wattle is involved in within the community & a bit about her.
Nominations must be in by this Friday, July 25 and the winner will grace the front cover of the Cootamundra Herald on Friday, August 1.
Please check with the person before nominating them as there are a number of commitments they will be asked to fill during the month including attending the Art Show, Wattle Time Debutante Ball, Street Parade and Wattle Time Fair and the Cootamundra Classic Cycle Race.
It is a lot of fun for the girls who have worn the sash in previous years and we encourage people to get behind it.
Please drop nominations into the Cootamundra Herald or email jennette.lees@fairfaxmedia.com.au before this Friday.
Girls should be at least 18 to enter with no upper age limit.
Town clock collection
WE had a huge response to our story on Councillor Mary Donnelly donating her pay rise (which she voted against) to the refurbishment of the town clock.
With Cr Donnelly’s generous donation, worth $2000, an extra $7000 is needed to see the clock keep time and chime once more.
The Cootamundra Development Corporation is coordinating a collection for anyone who wants to donate to the cause.
Find them in Parker Street near Camera Art.
Rug up
FOR those of us wondering when the cold weather will ever end, here’s a comforting thought someone mentioned to me...just six more weeks until the start of spring!
