The club is hosting the night of fun questions, raffles and auctions on Friday, August 22 from 6.30pm at the Ex Services Club.
The goal posts currently at Mitchell Park have well and truly reached their used-by date and are in desperate need of replacing.
They are rusty and are becoming unsafe for players and parents who need to erect the mid field and small field goals each week.
The posts are not approved for use anymore by the governing body of junior soccer due to their risk to safety.
The new posts and nets are worth $16,000.
They will be made of aluminium, rather than the current steel and will be removable making maintenance of the park easier and allowing Mitchell Park to be used for other sports also.
The club has been successful in obtaining funding for 50 per cent of the project from NSW Government Department of Sport and Recreation.
The cootamundra Junior Soccer Club must match this coming up with $8000 of their own.
To adjunct our other fundraising efforts throughout the year, the Trivia Night will be the club’s biggest fundraiser.
President of the club Ian Armstrong said when the club was successful in their grant application they immediately began thinking up ideas to come up with their 50 per cent of the funds needed.
“This is something a bit different that we think will work,” Ian said.
“We’re inviting not just junior soccer parents but members of the senior soccer club, all of our sponsors and supporters and anyone from the community who is interested in coming along,” he added.
Tickets are $15 per person with tables of 10 allocated. Either create your own table or join someone elses.
Included in the ticket price is a platter of finger food on arrival. Drinks will be available from the bar and people are encouraged to bring their own snacks for the table.
Please RSVP by August 15 by contacting president Ian Armstrong on 0400 038 558 or emailing cootajuniorsoccer@gmail.com.
