WHILE he is undeniably biased, Colin ‘Col’ Ashley’s enthusiasm and support is integral to the success of the club.

The Cootamundra Herald checked in with Mr Ashley to hear his thoughts on the upcoming weekend.
All three teams will be playing away from home this weekend.
Men’s reserve grade
Set to play against Junee at 1pm on Sunday in Junee.
In previous rounds, Cootamundra defeated Junee 3-1, and again, 1-0.
Mr Ashley is backing the Strikers this weekend.
“I definitely think they can win. I’d say they’re in with an 80 per cent chance.”
The team has undergone a transition period with a few key players unable to play due to injury.
Despite a series of challenging games in the lead up to the weekend, team morale is high, and the men are hoping this will be their time to shine.
Men’s first grade
Set to play against Lake Albert in Wagga Wagga at 3pm on Sunday.
Their only previous match with Lake Albert ended in a 0-0 draw.
“I’m ‘tipping’ first grade too,” Mr Ashley said.
He believes the first grade team is reaching their peak and on track for the final rounds of the competition.
The team had a bye last weekend and this presented a good opportunity to rest and recharge the batteries.
The men are motivated, fit, coordinated and highly skilled, and Mr Ashley would be surprised if they came out with a loss.
Women’s first grade
Set to play Henwood Park in Wagga Wagga at 11am on Sunday
In previous clashes, the Cootamundra side was defeated by Henwood Park 8-0, and then 3-0.
“This will be a very tough game for them,” Mr Ashley said.
“If they get within three goals of Henwood Park, they will have done well.”
The team has been improving consistently since the start of the season.
Coach, Annette Parkinson, soon recognised that communication was a weak point for the women and has been working with Manager, Bec Philpott, to iron out any kinks.
There is a great sense of camaraderie within the team, and they’re playing well together.
The team is skilled, fit and has the ideal combination of youth and experience.
Confidence is building week on week, and it’s only a matter of time before they snag another win.
Mr Ashley is excited to see what will unfold.
“All round, go the Strikers!”
