The decision by members of the MCRG to spend the money on these items was unanimous.
The outdoor furniture is made in Australia from recycled waste, mainly plastics, and is sturdy and long wearing.
Cootamundra Shire Council put down the two concrete slabs to hold the furniture, which was put in place last Thursday, July 24.
MCRG chairman Pat Caskie said her organisation is extremely grateful to the anonymous businessman who made the generous gesture.
“The work of the MCRG has attracted attention from many different areas,” she said.
“This money came out of the blue and we appreciate the contribution very much.
“A lot of planting has taken place – particularly at the Bird Walk – which in turn has attracted more walkers and visitors to admire the work that has been done.
“The unit previously put in place at the Bird Walk receives a lot of use and a second picnic facility will be appreciated.’
The second unit, near the skate park, will also have plenty of use, Mrs Caskie said.
“Sporting events on Nicholson Park attract many lunch time users of the picnic tables already in place near the skate park and this extra unit will help on days of maximum use.”
Purchase of the tables and seating has left a small balance and a decision on its will be taken by the MCRG in the near future, Mrs Caskie said.
The MCRG meets on the first Monday of each month and anyone interested in assisting with its work is welcome to attend.
