WE love stories like this one: On Tuesday Cootamundra’s Charlie McAtear lost his wallet while down the street with no idea what had happened to it.
He was duly impressed, as are we, by the actions that followed. Sacred Heart Central School students Lara Wilson, Lachie Wilson, Mack Hamilton and Harry Commins returned the wallet to Mr McAtear’s home.
This swift action saved him the trouble of having to cancel cards etc and all cash was obviously untouched.
“You are a credit to your parents and also to your school,” are the words of Charlie and wife Kathy McAtear, summing up these upstanding young members of our community perfectly.
Well done Lara, Lachie, Mack and Harry.
Daffodil Day stall
DAFFODIL Day is all about supporting the Cancer Council with funds raised going towards beating cancer.
On Friday, August 22 local residents can do their bit to support the cause by purchasing from the Daffodil Day stall to be set up outside Rockmans.
There will be all manner of merchandise available including the famous Daffodil Day bears, pens, flowers, brooches and more.
Birthday greetings
NEXT Monday marks the birthday of lovely lady Judy Pigram.
She will celebrate with her gorgeous daughters Megan and Sammy, who are sure to make the day special for their mum.
Happy birthday Judy.
Presentation evening
THE Cootamundra Blues Australian Rules Club has been the first of the local footy clubs to inform us of their presentation night with the annual event scheduled for Saturday, October 11.
It should be a great night for the Blues with lots to celebrate as their season continues to kick on in outstanding fashion.
If a date is set for the presentation of any other winter sport please contact Jennette Lees (email at top of page) so we can ensure a photographer is present. Thank you.
Weekend happenings
TOMORROW night at the Arts Centre is the sold-out ‘Sound of Musik’ theatre restaurant evening.
It should be a terrific evening for all involved.
The Rugby Club will play second grade tomorrow against Deniliquin and club players, supporters and committee members will swap a football for golf clubs on Sunday for their annual Golf Day.
It will be a BIG day at Clarke Oval tomorrow when the Blues Aussie Rules boys take on Goulburn in a match billed as the “game of the season”.
On Sunday, it will be another footy blockbuster at Les Boyd Oval when the Bulldogs host the Albury Thunder.
