Mitchell will represent in shot-put and discus after qualifying through school level, followed by zone and Riverina.
He continues to improve at each meet and at the Regional Athletics Carnival in Alexandra Park, Albury earlier this term finished first in the 16-years discus and second in the 16-years shot-put.
There was a strong representation of Coota High students at this level with Mitchell the only one to make it through.
Having made it to state level before, Mitchell says he is not too nervous about mixing it with NSW’ best athletics and will be out to make his mark.
“I’ve been practicing and I aim to do well,” Mitchell said, without setting a definite goal in terms of position or distance in place.
He said one of the best aspects of competing at the state carnival is being able to see what other students are doing and gaining this wider exposure in the athletics field.
