GREAT FUN: Temora may well have defeated Cootamundra 30-16 but the under 16s leaguetag team didn’t go down without a fight. The girls made some brilliant plays giving supporters who lined the field plenty to cheer about. Here, Kelsey Hogan asserts her dominance at Nicholson Park.

SCIENTIFIC METHOD CRYSTALLISED: Sacred Heart’s primary Science Fair gave students the opportunity to pick an investigation and follow it through. Year Two student Emma Shields says her dad taught her how to make home-grown crystals.

COMMUNITY VOICES: Peter Charker, business department head at the TAFE NSW Riverina Institute’s Cootamundra Campus, said the aim of the advisory group is to “regain a focus on listening to the people.”


 BLOKES BEING BLOKES: A brand new Men’s Shed space has been created at the Southern Cross Care Retirement Village. Enjoying the facility are (standing) Men’s Shed volunteers Ken You and Eric Hodgson (seated) Gordon Bateup, Keith Dray and Jim Lyster.

Daffodil Day is a major fundraiser of the Cancer Council with all money raised helping the Cancer Council to continue its work in cancer research, providing patient support programs and prevention programs for all Australians. 
Daffodil Day helps grow hope for better treatments and more survivors.
The Cancer Council describes the daffodil represents as providing hope for a cancer-free future.
Each day more than 115 Australians will die of cancer and it is because of this that fundraising for a cure is so desperately needed. 
This year Daffodil Day aims to raise more than $9.7 million to fund the cancer control initiatives, patient support and research services of Cancer Council’s eight state and territory member organisations.
Last friday, Ev and Deirdre were amongst more than 10,000 volunteers expected to staff more than 1200 Daffodil Day sites across Australia.

With the finals series starting this weekend, no doubt Drum will be looking to carry this good form forward and if he can do so it will hold the talented side in good stead to turn their minor premiership into a premiership. QUILT EXHIBITION
Residents from across the district are asked to mark this date in their diary, Saturday/Sunday, September 13 & 14, when the bi-annual Quilt and Craft Exhibition takes place at the Jugiong Memorial Hall. Having attended the last exhibition out there, I say a not to be missed event.
Proceeds will go to the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and the Harden and Cootamundra Branch of Can Assist.
So make it a day out in Jugiong where the ladies will be serving morning and afternoon tea plus a light lunch. THE TIME 9am to 4pm.
The quilt in this photo is one of a number of ‘masterpieces’ that hang in Patchwork on Parker.

Pictured here as a little princess is Tiger Honey Foster with Michelle Bowditch in the background. Tiger Honey decided to dress up to watch the parade as her siblings left for school earlier all dressed in fun book character outfits.


Now these two little preschoolers were dressed for the outing, Annabel and Charlie Hornery.

 AND THEY’RE OFF: The Book Parade begins on Friday down the main street with local students and kids dressed to impress. 

SWAP MEET EVENT
Well, the upcoming Swap Meet Event hosted by the Cootamundra Antique Motor Club, set to take place on Sunday, September 7, will be ‘something to behold’ with around 200 stalls set up (just check out this picture of the Swap Meet held last year.)
A highly interesting day out, this once-a-year event will be a delight for dads and granddads as Sunday, September 7 is Fathers Day.
There will be food stalls plus a yummy barbecue, remembering that all funds raised from this BIG day out go to local charities.

HISTORY COMES ALIVE: WWI play Through These Lines is coming to Cootamundra on Friday and Saturday as part of a Centenary of Anzac regional tour. Kate Skinner and Gareth Rickards (pictured) lead a cast of six through a story that features humour, tragedy, romance and even a few fight scenes.
