START your engines and drive on down to the Cootamundra Airport for the vintage car club rally tomorrow. When local Jag owners and enthusiasts heard there would be a historic run at the airport, they decided they might just tag along for the day. While they won’t be racing their cars down the airstrip, Jag owners have been allocated a strip of grass. More than 40 Jaguars will be on display, and no doubt, the owners from as near as Cootamundra and as far as Yass will be close to their toys. The cars may look fierce, but their owners are very approachable. And, for the love of Jags, make sure you say hello to Malcolm Chaplain, the facilitator of the Jag contingent. Feel free to pick his brains; Malcolm is a Jaguar whiz.
A generous donation
THE Cootamundra Ex-Services Club has handed over $250 to the Cootamundra Community Soup Kitchen.
This will help with the ongoing costs associated with feeding the 50-plus people who attend the kitchen weekly.
The entire Soup Kitchen thanked the club for their generosity.
“Your support will go far in helping us to provide food and friendship to those who need it most in Cootamundra,” volunteers at the kitchen said.
The kitchen attracts a varied crowd of diners. Some are local, some visitors, some there because they can’t afford to put a meal on the table for their family, others for the companionship that comes from sitting down for a meal amongst friends. What all have in common is their weekly routine is enriched by the Soup Kitchen.
The kitchen runs out of the Baptist Church Hall in Thompson Street each Wednesday from 5.30pm.
King of the road
EIGHTY-EIGHT and still living it up, Ray Clark, a resident of Cootamundra’s retirement village relished the chance to ride in style at the Wattle Time parade last Saturday. Good on you Ray, you’re a true king of the road.
It’s a tough life...
HAVING returned from a wonderful 10 day holiday to Vanuatu Jenny Beath, Paula Miller and Alison Kerrison bring many happy memories home to their family and friends in Cootamundra.
The ladies say they had a fantastic time, as they were faced with beautiful weather able to do lots of sightseeing.
It was also an opportunity for Jenny to spend time with her daughter Casey, who lives and works in Vanuatu.
