A number of members from the winning side of the Cootamundra Blues Aussie Rules Team headed for my favourite city Melbourne last weekend to delight in being present at the MCG when Hawthorn/Port Melbourne played (of course Hawthorne won and now meet the Swans in the Grand Final next Saturday - and keep an eye on our former Cootamundra lad Isaac Smith who will be playing for Hawthorn).
The entourage of 12 travelled down by train and say a first-class weekend was had by all (the only ‘glitch’ was finding a TV screen in the city of Melbourne on which to watch the Saturday night Rugby League semi-final between Manly and Canterbury!!)
PRESTIGE WIN
Coolac farmer Jock Graham has won a prestige award the Nuffield Scholarship and will study the application of communications technology to agribusiness - to impliment new communications systems which can help assist farmers.
The scholarship will allow Jock to research the application of new technology to the farm, including how farmers can connect with high-speed internet and thus better communications.
Jock and his wife Kate live on the family farm at Gobarralong and I feel sure that his dad and mum Jim and Jill Graham are thrilled with his award.
FASHIONS ON THE FIELD
The Cootamundra Turf Club 2014 Darley Cootamundra Cup Race Meeting is set to take place on Sunday, October 5.
Excitement mounts as preperations are well in hand, and I know of people who are returning to Coota for the long weekend to enjoy a day out at the races.
Fashions on the Field will take place with judges coming from the Yass fashion house “Vicki O Dresses” to choose the best dressed on the day.
As well fashions from “Vicki O Dresses” will be paraded on the day.
