THE organisation recently celebrated 30 years and if the fundraising efforts of these dedicated volunteers is anything to go by there will be 30 more strong years for Can Assist.
Anyone doing their grocery shopping in IGA on Friday morning stepped out to the much-loved smell of sausages and onions cooking. There were few who could resist a sausage sandwich!
All funds raised from the barbecue go to Can Assist to help people in need through their cancer treatment.
Such is the amazing fundraising effort of volunteers over the past three decades, they have recently cracked the million dollar mark in funds which have gone back to the local community.
The beauty of the Cootamundra branch of Can Assist is all funds stay local to help locals.
Illabo Community Ball
IT is a longstanding community tradition in Illabo and the date has been set for this year’s Illabo Community Ball.
Mark Friday, November 14 for those interested in attending.
This will be the first ball in the newly revamped Illabo Showground Hall, which the Show Society and volunteers from the village have been working hard to improve.
Around 150 people can fit into the hall and it is expected to be a capacity crowd.
Organiser Jade Belling, of Illabo, is encouraging all community members to get in quick and secure their ticket.
Last year’s band Jiakomothief, from Griffith, will be back to entertain. Playing lots of 80s classic, it is great music, people can get up and dance to.
Tickets are 25 per person with the function BYO.
To book a ticket or table please contact Jade on 0429 724 627 or email jade_belling@hotmail.com.
