Bush Fire Danger Period starts

 TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT: Nothing will stop bushfires in summer in Australia, however all are hoping there will not be a repeat of last year’s Stockinbingal fire which was stopped by firefighters just shy of the village after igniting near Springdale and jumping the Burley Griffin Way.

TODAY, October 1 marks the start of the statutory Bush Fire Danger Period meaning as of today a permit will be needed by anyone wishing to light a fire in the open.
