Firstly Congratulations to Chloe Waters on being named 2014 Showgirl - I feel sure Chloe will do Cootamundra proud as she moves on to the Regional Judging.
AND Chloe celebrated her 18th birthday on Friday last with a party hosted by her proud parents Gary and Leslie Waters taking place on Saturday night.
Oh what a busy time for Chloe as she is also in the midst of sitting her HSC exams.
CONGRATULATIONS, HAPPY BIRTHDAY & GOOD LUCK!!
TRIBUTE TO RAY
A pleasant evening was had by all in attendance at a Dinner held at The White Ibis on Thursday evening last for retiring solicitor Mr Ray Luff.
It was also an opportunity to introduce Callan & Luff’s clients to members of staff at JMA Legal.
AND how nice to see lovely lady Debbie Willis in attendance (Deb has been a long and valued member of staff at JMA Legal, and she is looking forward to a return to work).
OLD SCHOOL BUDDIES
So nice to receive photos from Alison (Ekin) Berner of THE BEST School Reunion which was held recently.
Alison’s note to me commented ‘a great get together, the best group of old school buddies (40 in total). And on a somewhat sadder note one of the key organisers Peter Hogan missed the event due to open heart surgery in Sydney during that week. But the good news is Peter is making good progress.
Another guest at the reunion Ian Cullen had travelled from Germany to play a part in the get together.’
DANCE SUCCESS
Nine year old Lily Brennan competed in the under 12 years section of the Showcase Northern Territory Dance Championships held in Darwin on October 4 and 5 and took home an impressive array of medals and trophies.
Lily is the daughter of Alison and Andrew Brennan of Darwin and the youngest granddaughter of Jim and Pat Caskie of Queen Street.
Lily’s wins included gold in Junior Jazz, gold in Broadway Jazz and gold in Broadway Jazz duo. She also won the Style and Skill award and shared a cash prize for best duo under 12. Lily was announced as sixth overall in the Top Ten junior competitors.
Lily learns ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics at the Darwin Performance Academy, under the tuition of academy principal Marnette Jan.
Showcase was founded by Peter Oxford in 1994 and the competition encompasses all Australian states and territories and New Zealand.
LOCAL HANDIWORK
There was a first-class display of porcelian dolls (plus dolls to be judged) at the Cootamundra Show last weekend - the display by the Young Porcelian Group was outstanding.
Pictured are three of the prizewinning dolls at the Cootamundra Show on Saturday. All three were made by Cootamundra locals including Ainslie Fuller’s ‘fairy’ doll in the red dress, Rhonda Hoppe’s doll (centre), and Jordan Fuller’s fairy doll in the purple dress.
By the way the Cootamundra Group was in recess for a few months BUT now meets each Thursday at 10am to 12 noon, with an enthusiastic response.
Anyone interest is most welcome to be in touch with Margaret Fuller on 6942 3443.

BUSY MEN
I called on the men at the Cootamundra Men’s Shed recently and they are certainly having a busy time in the lead up to Christmas making a splendid variety of gifts for all.
BUT the men do also delight in spending time at the Retirement Village working with the men there.
Pictured here is ‘the Melbourne Cup’ made by the men at the Village set to ‘stand out’ at the Melbourne Cup Event taking place at the Retirement Village on Tuesday, November 4.
