As you may be aware, Fairfax Media recently announced changes to the way its publications in regional Australia will be produced. These changes, which are being made in response to a rapidly changing media industry, are being introduced first in the South West, which includes the Cootamundra Herald.
I want to assure you, our loyal readers and advertisers, that while our business is changing, the paper you know and love is not going anywhere. It will be redesigned and relaunched early next year and will continue to be the proud voice of our community.
As part of the change our staff will be equipped with new technology to help them deliver even better products in print and online. For readers this will mean a new-look newspaper full of information on the Cootamundra Shire and surrounds. For advertisers it will mean their products and services can be promoted to a valuable audience in a trusted and well-supported publication.
The Herald will also be moving offices, but will be staying in Cootamundra. We are presently looking for a new location that is better suited to our needs.
Unfortunately the change to our operation will mean some staff losses. This is an unavoidable consequence of the need to make our business more sustainable and we regret that it is necessary. It has affected all of us here because we are like a family.
Thank you for your understanding and support and please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. Feel free to drop in to the office or to give me a call.
Once again, while our business is changing, the Cootamundra Herald is here to stay.
