On Sunday at 3pm there will be an afternoon tea in the Town Hall and everyone is invited to come along and meet their elected representatives, as well as representatives from many of the fantastic groups around town.
The afternoon tea is an ideal way for new residents to meet other residents, share experiences and learn about what is on offer in the region of Cootamundra.
“Cootamundra is one of the most popular towns in the Riverina to relocate to and the afternoon tea is a great way to confirm that Council initiatives and promotions are working successfully,” Cootamundra Shire Council public relations co-ordinator Linda Wiles said.
The last afternoon tea was held 18 months ago and was a huge success, with over 100 residents attending.
It’s not just for new residents either, as anyone looking to expand their interests and social circle is more than welcome to come along.
Council will ensure an array of resources such as Cootamundra brochures and facilities and services information packs are available, as well as a delicious afternoon tea free of charge.
Returned resident Marion Loiterton will be among those attending on Sunday as she looks to find her feet and make new friends in her childhood home town.
Marion grew up in Cootamundra and has returned to be with family and old friends.
She recently attended a school reunion where she discovered that many of her classmates are coming back to settle in town, after years of living elsewhere.
While Marion was happy in her former home at the Hunter Valley, she says there is no place like Cootamundra for the level of family support she has been seeking.
The afternoon tea will also be well represented by many of the social groups that help to make Cootamundra the wonderful town that it is.
The table below, whilst not extensive, gives an idea of how many different groups will be represented on Sunday.
It is also not too late for groups to send along a representative- for further information please contact Linda Wiles at Cootamundra Shire Council on 6940 2100.
