Munsey has played for Scotland and was in their 24-man squad for the 2015 World Cup, but missed the final selection by one place when the final 15 were announced.
He showed his talent as a batsman on the weekend in Cootamundra and was greatly responsible for guiding his team to win in the Seven-a-Side final at Albert Park.
Munsey batted through the seven-over innings having a field day on our local oval.
The tall 21-year-old, left-handed batsman blasted 59 not out from 18 balls, including two sixes and six fours, as his side chased down the Coota Bulldogs score of 73 with nine balls to spare.
Munsey plays in the ACT competition for North Canberra Gungahlin and has also played a few games for Warwickshire.
Munsey said after the final he loved the deck at Albert Park with the ball coming onto the bat, and a few of the Bulldogs players were getting sick of seeing the ball disappear on to the eastern side of the ground near Hovell Street.
He also put on a bit of a show for the spectators, playing a couple of reverse sweeps which thrilled the crowd watching the final.
By the second over, Munsey said he knew his side had the run chase covered.
“We started attacking the short boundaries building our total,” Munsey said.
“Having plenty of wickets in the hutch certainly helped,” he added.
While this was Munsey’s first year playing in the carnival, it was the third year for the Canberra-based side to travel to Cootamundra.
It is through former local Rodney Melmoth the contingent travels to Cootamundra for the carnival.
This year he brought two teams with him all with strong sporting backgrounds.
In addition to Munsey, there was also Dennis Grubb who rode his bicycle from Canberra to Binalong on Saturday before heavy rain meant he had to call for a lift.
This ride was part of his training for the Sids and Kids charity ride on March 27.
All in all, the Dilligafs had the local side well and truly covered in the final, ruining the chances of the Coota Bulldogs gaining back to back Seven-a-Side crowns.
They say they will definitely be back next year.
