Sacred Heart Central kindergarten students were on their best behaviour for the first day of school.
The first kindergarten class of the year in Cootamundra ran seamlessly; no tears or tantrums, just an air of excitement.
At the start of the day parents Luke and Sarah Dabin dropped off young Cooper Dabin, there to hold his hand as he progressed into a new chapter of life.
It wasn’t long before Cooper was putting up his hand to answer questions during class, engaged thoroughly by his teacher.
Cooper and all 22 of his fellow classmates enjoyed the literacy lesson.
“Do anyone know what a B-F-F is?” Mrs Cameron asked.
A symphony of voices replied, “best friends forever.”
Two kindergarteners, Archie O’Brien and Tanner Sheather, hugged and declared, “he’s my best friend forever.”
Over the next 13 years of schooling there will be many friendships forged and strengthened.
Principal Janet Cartwright is “wrapped” with the school’s transition program commenting on how smoothly it all went.
Kindergarten kids at EA Southee and Cootamundra Public will have to wait until next week to meet their new school friends.
Years 1-6 have returned looking studious as ever with shoes polished, hair neat and tidy, uniforms ironed and books in hand.
