Not long after Kenneth Kong had posted Cheryl, Albert and Bernard's dilemma to Facebook, message boards were buzzing with answers.

Here's the solution courtesy of a debate on the Study Room, with Neil Baldacchino providing the answer. 

Solution: 

First step is to figure out if Albert knows the month or the day.

Albert knows the month but he is sure that Bernard does not know the birthday, which means May and June can be ruled out as there is only one day with 18 in it and one day with 19 in it (unique days).

So it is either July or August by elimination, specifically July 14, July 16, August 14, August 15 or August 17.

Since the 14 is still duplicate here, it needs to be eliminated since Bernard could have never known which one out of the two is the correct date.

The remaining dates are July 16, August 15 and August 17.

Since in the third statement Albert now knows the date by elimination it has to be July 16 since August 15 and August 17 are duplicates.

The answer is July 16.
