The march was led by FSGT Nigel Lambert, CPL Neil Holzapfel and CPL Murray Kaufmann, who were impressed by the pride and respect shown by the small village.
Wallendbeen Public School students read excerpts from the story of Bill the Bastard, a famous Waler horse that was part of the WWI light horse regiment, and poetry honouring women of war.
Students also placed a poppy next to the name of each Wallendbeen resident who served in WWI as part of a new plaque to be displayed in the memorial hall.
