Bob’s father, George, was the architect of the Roxy Theatre. Bob and son Chris were welcomed to the former Mammatt home at 35 Cooper Street by owners Doug and Julie-Anne Phillips and met with a member of the Local history Society.
Stan Gibbs lived at Nos 30 and 34 Poole Street in years past, when his father was manager of Conkey’s butter factory (Gardens Motel).
Stan and his daughter Alison were entertained by a member of CLHS during their visit, enjoyed the Garden Club flower show and a tour of the former Scots Church, now the Uniting Church.
JUDY’S PASSION
On Wednesday in the Stephen Ward Rooms the U3A will host Judy Brittain who will tell us all about Almond production, including nutritional value and their valid storage and uses.
She will also give us an insight into her teaching and involvement with cooking. You will be amazed at the uses of almonds. It is anticipated that Judy will bring some samples of her almond products with her.
GIVING LOCALLY
I need to mention that the “All Day Cuppa for CanAssist” hosted by Tom and Jill Dodwell was not under the banner of the Biggest Morning Tea which goes to the national Cancer Council.
The money raised by the Dodwell’s stays locally.
UPDATING SKILLS
The girls at the helm of Water Aerobics (Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9am) have returned after an intensive skills update at the AIS Canberra. Be prepared for a “ramped up” workout.
WE’RE BLESSED
I was asked (and am delighted) to make mention of the the amazing, first-class, phenomenal job done by members of our Cootamundra Hospital. I so often hear of people praising the staff there particularly when they are “moving on overload” as was the case up there last Friday.
A letter to the editor would be perfect, from anyone who visits our hospital or has been a patient there of late.
