When they booted the first goal of the second quarter from the opening bounce they were ahead by 38 points.
The home side fought back for the remainder of the match, however the Blues won by 13 points 14-7-91 to 18-10-78.
Inaccuracy in front of the posts proved costly for the Roos, especially in the opening two quarters, they kicked 1-6 in first quarter and 2-7 on the second quarter.
With the Blues leading by 27 at the last change and the Roos finishing strongly, Coota coach Chris Drum challenged his players “ Do we want to win this game, let’s do it.”
The Roos kicked goals in the fifth and 15th minute to bring the margin back to 15 points but the Blues were able to reply with Ben Crick kicking a crucial goal in the 18th minute.
The Blues backline stood tall as they continually repelled many a Roos attacks.
Joel Pearson was easily afforded best on ground status with his marking and long raking kicks being a feature of his play.
Toby Johnston, playing in only his fourth match since breaking his leg 12 months ago, played strongly in the opening two quarters.
Up forward Chris Drum was dominant booting five straight in a classy display.
16-year-old Jake Turner continues to impress, as he booted two goals in two minutes in the first quarter.
Next Saturday the Blues host Ainslie.
