In a sad loss to our community, in particular the agricultural world, John Manwaring lost his fight to bowel cancer on Thursday, May 14, at just 51 years.

Mr Manwaring, from ‘Rosehill’ Jugiong was a former student at Murrumburrah High School.
It was during his formative years in our shire he gained his early knowledge of farming.
His education, learnt here in our town, led him to enjoy a distinguished career in agriculture.
Mr Manwaring represented the NSW Farmers Association on the Wool Council of Australia, and was the director of the Wool Producers Association.
He also served on the Executive Council for 14 years and on a number of representative bodies for the state federation including the Wool Committee from 1997-2012 and was appointed chair from 2010-2012.
If there was a wool body helping producers on the ground he would put his hand up to be part of it.
Just last year Mr Manwaring was recognised in Cootamundra by the NSW Farmers Association with a prestigious farming award.
It was in a fitting tribute to all he contributed to agriculture, presented at the same time as another noted farmer in our district received an award, Hugh Roberts.
At the presentation dinner, Farmers Association president Fiona Simson credited Mr Manwaring with being at the coalface of initiatives which generations of future farmers will be able to benefit from.
He was among the group of wool producer lobbyists who fought for change to ensure electronic sheep and goat tags were not mandatory.
It was only in recent years the announcement was made these tags would not be mandatory.
John was the loving husband of Susan, devoted father of Sarah and a much loved brother and uncle.
He was the son of the late Athol and Betty Manwaring of ‘Rosehill’.
He was farewelled at a well-attended funeral at the Christ Church, Anglican Church, last Thursday, May 21 in Cootamundra, where people paid their respects to a man known for standing up when duty called and devoting himself to the agriculture industry.
