But while the rest of us are mumbling under our breath as we pour bucket-fulls of water on our windscreens or dig through the drawers to find the other half of our pair of gloves, we have to take a moment to think of our farmers.
They just can’t take a trick.
Having missed much of the deluge that hit the rest of the state, the farming community is now peering to the skies in desperation, waiting for a few drops of “Adam’s ale”.
If no rain is forthcoming in the next fortnight, things look bleak for our local guys, with hand feeding stock a real likelihood.
Cootamundra has actually been one of the coldest spots in the state this week, even rating an honourable mention on ABC news on Wednesday night, with the mercury bottoming out at -5 on two consecutive days.
The only places colder have been Thredbo, Perisher and Cooma, who enjoy an influx of tourists at this time of year, all searching for some downtime in the powdery white snow.
Meanwhile, in the Cootamundra shire, there is no such fun to be had.
Frosts wreak havoc with our beloved lawns and gardens, crack car windscreens, burst pipes in some of the older homes and freeze up feed and pasture on properties.
But as always, our farmers will continue to gamble with the weather gods while the rest of us shiver through the next few months. The only definite is, it won’t be cold forever.
