On Monday, six school-age children learned the art of soapstone sculpting in a hands-on workshop.
The children used soapstone, sourced locally and from Brazil, to create sculptures and amulet necklaces, which they get to keep.
They learned how to use various different tools including files, wet and dry sandpaper and wax to complete their projects.
Instructor Isabel Scott, gave away a few tips on how rocks are formed and how to identify different rocks out and about, choosing which are best for sculpting.
Phone The Arts Centre or check the Cootamundra Herald website for further information on school holiday activities.
