Last week we chose to highlight John Dorczak, who has diligently served EA Southee Public School for 39 years and counting.
You only had to look to the comments on that story to see countless examples of teachers who have made a lifelong impact.
Sister Kathy Hodge is another example of someone who makes life better for students and staff alike at Sacred Heart Central School. Well known and much loved, Sr Kathy is an irreplaceable part of the school and church community.
It may seem obvious, but it’s worth saying that volunteers can be just as important as the staff.
A prime example of dedication can be seen at Cootamundra High School, where Mark and Kay Forsyth were active members of the P and C for 15 years.
At Cootamundra Public School we can look to our Kids Hope mentors, led by Sue Masters and Jan Mitchell. These volunteers undertake rigorous training and give up their time to improve the lives of students who need it most.
It’s clear our community relies on more than just good ideas- it needs people to step up to the plate and say “I can do that”.
There is often no pay involved, but the reward is far more valuable than money.
