IT HAS been said before but it certainly bares repeating: Cootamundra is a town that punches above its weight.

From agriculture to the arts, in the classroom and on the sporting oval, we are consistently spoiled by individual high achievers and brilliant team efforts.
Is it possible in this case to have too much of a good thing?
Over a period of just a few weeks we have had and will have teams around the region and indeed around the state representing this proud town in basketball, rugby league and union- and that’s just the junior sides.
This weekend will see no fewer than five senior sides in do-or-die matches, namely the Bulldogs league tag and under 18s, Blues, first grade Strikers and Tricolours seconds.
Those teams lucky enough to be playing in town will no doubt expect the crowd to be local and vocal.
Those travelling away from home are no less worthy of our support though, and in fact may need it even more.
To hear the cheers drown out the boos, or to see the passionate and familiar faces in the crowd, really can be the difference between a win and a loss in the dying moments of a crucial game.
So this weekend it’s high time to do away with the excuses. Get out to Clarke Oval and O’Connor Park, get out to Wagga, and cheer on the mighty Cootamundra.
Don’t wait for the grand final. Without your support, there may not be one.
