The awards celebrate the achievements of Aboriginal public school students from Preschool to Year 12.
Outstanding students receive recognition for areas including academic, sporting, creative, leadership, citizenship, and cultural engagement.
Another highlight of the evening saw EA Southee students perform a song in Wiradjuri language while displaying dot-style artworks they produced.
The awards are the result of a partnership between the Department of Education and the local Aboriginal community. Local Aboriginal representatives Jenny and Peter Beath and Dawn Penrith were present, whilst elder Bob Glanville gave his apologies.
EA Southee principal Zita McLeod praised the night as an event that “brings the community together”.
“It was a chance to recognise and celebrate achievement, and also for people around the district to catch up and enjoy a good night,” she said.
