A morning downpour saw the 10.30am start moved back to 12pm. Winning the toss, Cootamundra captain Luke Levett sent his side in to bat first.
“Everyone has been doing their bit in the nets,” Levett said.
“I’m hoping the top six can dig in and put some runs on the board. A good start makes everyone more comfortable and the rest can follow on from there.”
Things started relatively well for Cootamundra as openers Will Bailey and Sam Sheahan played safe shots to get a few runs on the board.
Bowral bowlers Trent Woods and Sean Young soon found their groove though and began dismantling the top order.
Will Bailey was bowled for four runs, closely followed by Sam Sheahan caught for two.
The next three wickets proved crucial as Matt Knagge, Luke Levett and Jack Caldwell were out for ducks.
Caldwell arguably had case to feel aggrieved, given out for a golden duck on an LBW call after the ball glanced from his bat onto his upper thigh.
The devastating maiden over from Woods left Cootamundra at 5/10 after nine. Woods completed his hat-trick when the first ball of the 11th over saw Tom Drew also given out LBW.
Tom Miller and Ted Hines looked to steady things, lasting five overs together for the sixth wicket, but a mix-up saw Miller run out for three.
Max Tiernan top scored with nine as the hosts were bowled out in the 26th over for 38, including 15 sundries.
Woods finished with 5/6 from six overs, whilst Young was equally impressive with 1/1 from six. Jack Taufel took 3/5 and finished off Coota with a two-wicket maiden.
It took Bowral just ten overs to reach the total, opener Valentino Woszczalski remaining not out on 30.
Jack Caldwell took the sole wicket for Cootamundra, Lachlan Murchie caught for a duck by Tom Miller with the fifth ball of the innings.
Andy Dowe hit one boundary and finished on 8.
The good news for the young Cootamundra side is most will be given another shot next year, with only Luke Levett and Will Bailey too old to compete again.
They will be glad to see the back of Trent Woods, who took 6/16 last year.
Teams had a chance to go to the pool before returning to Albert Park for a barbecue.
